Human chain holding torches to commemorate the International Day for Migrant People

Different collectives of people born in other countries ask for a worthy and an equal status reception

Organisations and social platforms supporting the campaign Casa Nostra Casa Vostra have organised a human chain with torches to celebrate The International Day for Migrant People on next Saturday December 17. This march will leave at 6pm from plaça Universitat de Barcelona, will tour around the Raval neighbourhood and will end up at plaça Sant Jaume.

The human chain will present a slogan " We want to shelter in dignity and equal status", and emphatises  the Casa Nostra, Casa Vostra campaign's idea that there's a need to shelter those refugee people who couldn't make it to Catalunya, but also those migrant and refugee persons who live here already.

This human chain claims:

  • To let housekeepers contribute to the social security system.

  • To let the migrant people obtain citizenship with no tests nor taxes.

  • To let migrant people obtain the official documents without a work contract

  • To get the FIC (Foreign Internment Centres) facilities closure

  • To let the non-official hawkers live with dignity

  • To stablish legit and safe ways for those migrant people
